Read about our early years and how we evolved into a program proven to be making a difference in the lives of incarcerated men to become successfully integrated citizens in the community.
We began in the State of Kansas prison system as the InnerChange Freedom Initiative (IFI) since January of 2000 at the Winfield Correctional Facility. Under IFI, we were part of the Prison Fellowship Ministries program.
In the midst of 2001, we changed to Ellsworth Correctional Facility and then in April of 2007 we moved to Lansing Correctional Facility.
We wanted to maximize the opportunity of being in close proximity to the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area for our program. In 2009, Warden McKune invited us to expand our work into the Minimum Custody Unit at L.C.F.
Brothers in Blue manages and facilitates our reentry program in both the Medium and Minimum Lansing Correctional Facilities.
Note: Due to financial limitations on Prison Fellowship they had to pull out of Kansas. We wanted to keep the program going due to its success so under the name of Brothers In Blue Reentry we use the same principles and curriculum.
